Center for Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED)
The Center for Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED) at Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), was established in June 2021 in alignment with the Graduate Studies & Research office objectives and its goals to support all types of research programs in various research areas.
SEED is a research and development center focused on driving innovative and sustainable solutions for the energy and economic future of Kuwait and the Gulf region. Our center is committed to promoting academic excellence, interdisciplinary research, and the development of sustainable strategies to address the energy and economic challenges of the 21st century.
Objective
The main objective of the Center for Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED) is to conduct applied and policy-relevant research across a range of sustainable energy and environment topics, in addition to enhancing and supporting the economic development of the state of Kuwait.
Mision
SEED's mission is to address the complex energy and economic demands facing Kuwait and the region by promoting cutting-edge research and developing sustainable solutions. We aim to drive the transition towards a cleaner and more efficient energy system while fostering economic growth and social well-being.
Focus Areas
- Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency: We research and promote the use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, as well as the implementation of efficient technologies to optimize energy consumption.
- Sustainable Economy: We analyze and develop strategies to promote sustainable and equitable economic growth that aligns with the principles of sustainable development.
- Energy and Environmental Policies: We investigate the impact of energy and environmental policies, proposing comprehensive approaches that drive sustainable practices.
Support for Postgraduate Teaching
SEED is committed to the academic development of postgraduate students at GUST. Our center offers experiential learning opportunities, internships, and research projects so that students can apply their knowledge to relevant and emerging topics in the field of sustainable energy and economics.
